Māori-Medium Bilingual Education Study Award
The purpose of this award is to increase the supply of quality teachers and encourage teachers to increase their proficiency and skill in te reo, tikanga Māori and their skills as Māori-medium teachers. Recipients of the award receive time off to study and a contribution towards fees, accommodation and travel or removal expenses. The recipient's school receives relief funding while the recipient is on leave.

He Reo Tupu, He Reo Ora
Check out this fantastic multimedia resource for teaching and learning te Māori. The primary audience is students in years 1-6 learning at levels 1-2 of Te Aho Arataki Marau mō te Ako i Te Reo Māori - Kura Auraki. It contains eight units of work with complementary reomations (animations in te reo Māori) and videos on how the resource can be used and marae protocol.

Essay Competition: Looking Back at Leadership
Read this article from the Education Gazette about "The Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship Fund Board Essay Competition" which includes a list of winners from 2010, one of the winning entries, and a brief history of how the scholarship fund all came about. The competition, for New Zealand Māori students in Years 7 to 13, has been an annual event since 1948 and aims at increasing fluency in written Māori or English.
